Gaja Gamini premiere nixed in Gujarat

The premiere and release of noted painter M F Husain's Gajagamini was called off indefinitely after 25 motorcycle-borne miscreants attacked the set prepared for the purpose here Wednesday.

Authorities of the venue City Pulse theatre on the Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad highway said that that the miscreants damaged the set prepared for the premiere of the film scheduled to be held tonight..

After causing damage to the set, the miscreants escaped.

M F Hussain, who was to arrive here late Wednesday evening for the premiere show and paint a picture of star actress Madhuri Dixit on the set, was immediately asked by the theatre authorities not to visit the city. The theatre authorities have decided to cancel the premiere and screening of the film.

The Gujarat Minister of State for Home Haren Pandya said if required, adequate security arrangements will be made at the theatre for screening of the movie.
