Free electricity to farmers will be among the first decisions to be taken by the new government in Andhra Pradesh, Congress leader Y S Rajsekhar Reddy, widely tipped to become the chief minister, said on Tuesday.
Participating in a panel discussion on Doordarshan, he said free electricity was one of the election promises made by the party.

To a question on the financial position of the state government, Reddy said the new government would attempt to streamline revenue and expenditure flows and ensure that every rupee of the loans that had been taken was spent productively. Even without an alliance with Telengana Rashtriya Samiti, the Congress would have done well but the tie-up helped both the parties, he said.
