A look-alike of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday caused a stir at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in Delhi as he waited patiently seeking the party's nomination for next month's assembly election in Rajasthan.

Ram Avtar Bharadwaj, a 52-year-old government employee, was the cynosure of all eyes, including those of a large media contingent, as he hung around for nomination from Phulera in Jaipur district.

Mobbed by the media, he happily obliged all their requests, including for making a pose like Vajpayee with his hands spread out.

Bharadwaj, who has never fought elections before, told reporters that he was trying his luck this time and 'with your wishes, I hope I am fortunate to get a nomination'.

Asked whether he ever tried to mimic Vajpayee or meet him, he said, "I never tried to be like Atalji nor did I make any attempt to meet him even though I have been told that I look like him."

To persistent requests from the media especially the electronic, he did make an effort to imitate Vajpayee and was warmly applauded for his effort.
