On the last day of campaigning for the Himachal Pradesh assembly election, leaders of the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday tried hard to show that all is well in their parties.

The BJP put out a front-page advertisement in local dailies showing together Union Minister for Rural Development Shanta Kumar and outgoing Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The Congress, on the other hand, put out an ad showing former chief minister Virbhadra Singh and president of the state party unit Vidya Stokes.

The Congress also put up hoardings with images of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and the first chief minister of Himachal, Y S Parmar.

BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Shimla while Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to campaign in Chamba, Solan and Jogendranagar.

Dhumal reached his home district of Hamirpur to address 11 meetings over the course of the day while Shanta Kumar was to address rallies in Baijnath and Kangra.
