No report of violence was received from any part of Madhya Pradesh -- where polling is being held -- till 1200 IST, Monday, Chief Electoral Officer D S Mathur said.
He denied that there were reports of firing and booth-capturing in Lahar in Bhind district, and said polling was going on smoothly.
Some electronic voting machines had malfunctioned in Jabalpur, Ujjain and Mandla, but they were immediately rectified, he added.
Ten per cent of votes were cast in the first three hours, he said, adding there was a turnout of 18 to 20 per cent in urban areas.
