Jawan killed in IED blast ahead
of Abdullah's meeting in Doda

Election 2002 A jawan was killed and another injured on Tuesday in an explosion ahead of a public meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah in Doda district, official sources said in Jammu.

Security forces and police, who launched a joint security exercise in Bagwa area prior to the meeting detected two powerful improvised explosive devices (IED), which were safely defused, but another IED found later exploded killing one army jawan and injuring another, they said.

Abdullah was scheduled to address a public meeting in the district around 1330 hrs, the sources said.
