The Indian cricket team got a mixed reception from the fans at the Mumbai airport as they returned back from the tour of South Africa in the early hours on Monday.

The team had a forgetful time in South Africa as it lost both the one-day international and the Test series.

The Indian team landed in Mumbai at 0015 hours after a long flight from Durban.

Coach Greg Chappell was the first to come out of the terminal and the huge media gathering instantly surrounded the Australian as his wife made her displeasure obvious.

Sourav Ganguly, who emerged as the highest run-getter in the Test series with 214 runs from three matches, was a hit among the fans as they clambered to get his autograph and pictures.

The Indian team was whitewashed 0-4 in the one-dayers, while they lost the Test series 1-2 after winning the first Test in Johannesburg.
