Wasim Jaffer and Dinesh Karthik provided only the second instance in this decade of both Indian openers scoring fifty in the same innings in a Test away from subcontinent, on Day 1 of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Jaffer had also partnered with Virender Sehwag against the West Indies to provide the only other instance in the 2000s. It was in fact only the ninth such instance for India since 1980.
