Tendulkar's top ten
119* vs England at Old Trafford, 1990
On his first tour to England, Tendulkar showed maturity beyond his age, as he hit 68 in the first innings and 119 not out in the second to help India salvage a draw.
India, given 407 to chase on the last day, were daunted by the prospect of defeat at 109 for four when Tendulkar walked to the field.
The 16-year-old showed immense courage to stand up to the English attack, with the pacers intimidating him with bouncers and a close-in field. Tendulkar stayed put, and with great support from Kapil Dev (26) and Manoj Prabhakar (67*), steered India to a respectable draw.
It was his first hundred, and an ominous sign of things to come from the Mumbai lad.
