India lose at home

India received a severe jolt when they lost the TVS Cup final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by 37 runs. Chasing 236, the hosts were all out for 198 in 41.5 overs with Rahul Dravid top scoring at 49.

Ian Harvey was Australia's most successful bowler, picking 4 for 21. Michael Clarke was adjudged man of the match for his fine 44 runs, which lifted the Australian innings, and 2 for 37.

The triangular series, which also included New Zealand, saw India squeeze through to the final after beating New Zealand in the last league match.

Australia, playing without frontline bowlers Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Jason Gillespie and Brett Lee, beat India at home with a second string attack.
