India storm into World Cup final

Undeterred by a disastrous start to the World Cup campaign, India romped into the final beating Kenya, Sri Lanka and New Zealand comprehensively in the Super Six stage.

A mismatched semi-final against Kenya saw India romp home by 91 runs with skipper Sourav Ganguly hitting 111 studded with five sixes and five boundaries.

After a humiliating eight-wicket defeat by Australia, India won eight consecutive games en route to the final against the Aussies.

India beat Zimbabwe, Namibia, England, Pakistan, Kenya, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Kenya again in the semi-final.

The chief architect of India's success was the sublime Sachin Tendulkar, the tournament's top run-getter with 673 runs in 11 matches including a hundred and six fifties.

Ganguly scored the most centuries in the 2003 World Cup. He scored a hundred against Namibia and two against Kenya.
