Your message:It is wonderful occasion for him and all of us, Indians. I wish the best for his career. There are couple of points that I wish to mention here. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the best batsman ever, well beyond par with even Don Bradman. His stroke play says that clearly. Having said that I must support this statement. There are three main differences that stand out in my mind. The general quality of cricket has improved tremendously that one has to accept. The bowlers are bowling faster, more accurate and with a game plan. In Don's days I believe, even when he is scoring at the rate of 100 per session, there were 4 slips, and a gully fielded. If you do that to Tendulkar, you can just imagine what would happen to the scorecard. It definitely takes more intelligence, skill and effort to score a single run in today's cricket that it did previously. There is one more factor that most ignore. The media and publicity and expectation of 1 billion people of India is a huge pressure. I remember, when I was a Gully Cricket Captain and had a major match next day, I could not sleep the previous night! It is unbelievable. One has to play to understand it. I am just imagining how Sachin must be handling this pressure. In Don's day, probably it didnot matter that much. Playing in such relax state is much more fun. You can perceive that difference even in Sachin's erlier and later innings. When he was thrashing Abdul Quadir, Wasim Akram, Imran Khan in Peshawar Stadium, he was playing with a feeling of without not loosing anyting. But now, he looks much pressured and everytime everyone demands more from him that pressure is too much. Playing under such pressure is beyond common person's imagination. Now a days, there is a new trend to criticise him for not winning matches for India. But people tend to forget that, cricket is not a game of Individuals, it is a Team game. To win the matches one needs the entire team to be of strong players not just one player. For Tendulkar, playing against all odds with very weak bolling and fielding support it is not easy to win matches. Just imagine Indian Team without Tendulkar and how will it perform against other teams. Alone him can neutralize the bowling mights of Donald, McGrath, Warne or Murali. Above all, sincerely find one person whom you like to and enjoy watching, it is Sachin Tendulkar!
