 Three Test hundreds -- two against Pakistan and one against England -- before his 21st birthday marked De Silva out as a man for the future. In 1991 came the finest moment of his Test career, when he scored a brilliant 267 against New Zealand. He scored three successive centuries and for a total of seven in Tests in 1997-1998, which by any yardstick was a truly remarkable year. |
