Australian leggie Bill "Digger" Robertson (1 Test in 1884) died, aged 76.

Australia's pace bowler Graham "Grath" Mckenzie (60 Tests from 1961 to 1971; 246 wickets) was born.

1960:
South African pace bowler Geoff Griffin claims a hat-trick at Lord's. But he was no-balled 11 times for throwing during the Test and did not appear again for his country.

New Zealand off-spinner John Dunning (4 Tests from 1933 to 1937) died in Adelaide, Australia, aged 68.

South African all-rounder Norman "Pompey" Norton (1 Test in 1909) died, aged 87.

1982:
India's Sandeep Patil (129 not out) set a world Test record by scoring six boundaries off an over from England's Bob Willis at Manchester.

1989:
Allan Border became the first to captain Australia to victory at Lord's on two occasions when his team won by six wickets.

Famous English umpire Frank Chester officiated in a Test match for the first time against South Africa at Lord's.

Englishman Jack Hobbs became the first batsman to aggregate 4000 Test runs during his innings of 119 at Lord's against Australia.

Don Bradman's unbeaten 102 at Lord's was the 200th hundred in Test matches between Australia and England. During his innings the Don surpassed Jack Hobbs record aggregate of 3636 runs between the two teams.

1969:
Current Test umpire John Hampshire's 107 against West Indies became the only English batsman to score a hundred on debut at Lord's.

1970:
Pakistani leggie Mushtaq Ahmed was born.

Australian fast bowler Ernie McCormick (12 Tests from 1935 to 1938) died, aged 85.

England's left-arm spinner Johnny Briggs suffered a violent epileptic fit on the first day of the Ashes Test match at Leeds. He was detained in Cheadle Asylum and played no further cricket until next season.

1926:
Percy Hendren's unbeaten 127 for England against Australia at Lord's at the age of 37 years was the youngest of the four century-makers in the match.

1935:
South Africa's wicket-keeper Jock Cameron scores 90 in just 105 minutes at Lord's against England.

Australian pace Alan Connolly (29 Tests from 1963 to 1971; 102 wickets) was born.

West Indian left-handed batsman and the son of George Headley and father of England's Dean Headley, Ron Headley (2 Tests in 1973) was born.
