Letter of the Day

12 July, 2001

It is a fact that BCCI is not a statutory body. However, it is also something that makes no sense.

There is no other national sports team which is appointed/selected by a non-government body. Not that I have a lot of trust in the government on the other sports, however, the BCCI will always be able to circumvent the law under the pretext that its not a statutory body.

It is high time that the media and the people demand that the BCCI be dissolved as it stands right now and we create another statutory organization to lead the India's national cricket team's business.

It is ridiculous how these bunch of idiots/morons have been able to manipulate to scheme against the law and culture (cricket is a big part of our Indian culture) of this nation.

If that cannot be forced, the Indian government should seek for a membership in the ICC and appoint a "INDIAN team" to play in ICC events. The government should refuse the BCCI the right to call their team an Indian team.
