Manoj Prabhakar hospitalised

Former Test cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, arrested by Uttaranchal police in connection with a fraud and cheating case from his office in Delhi, was on Tuesday admitted to a private clinic in Haldwani, police said.

Prabhakar, while being taken to a court in Haldwani, complained of stiffness and pain in his fingers and lower part of legs.

He was initially taken to a government hospital but later admitted to a nursing home on the advise of doctors, Superintendent of police (SP), Nainital, Jeevan Chand Pandey said.

A Delhi Court had on Monday rejected Prabhakar's plea for bail and sent him to a day's transit remand to produce him before a magistrate at Haldwani.

Doctors attending on Prabhakar said he had a history of 'brain stroke' and clinical tests are being conducted in this regard.

"We will be conducting C T Scan and have a final assessment of his health only after the tests are completed," Dr J S Khurana said. He said Prabhakar has been kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the clinic.

A joint team of Uttaranchal and Delhi Police on Monday had arrested Prabhakar from his office in Malviya Nagar on the basis of a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him by Haldwani judicial magistrate Ashok Kumar in connection with chit fund company APACE Investment Ltd case on May 11.

Police has alleged that Prabhakar as director of the company had defrauded and cheated people while it accepted deposits from them.
