Mixed sentiment sees Nifty at 1285.05, down 4.55 points

Mixed sentiments prevailed at the National Stock Exchange today as the index moved in a narrow range and ended lower on the last day of the trading cycle.

Mirroring the downtrend, the S&P CNX Nifty Index opened at 1289.20, rose to the day's high of 1290.80, fell to the day's low of 1277.85 and ended at 1285.05, showing a net loss of 4.55 points or 0.35 per cent from the previous close of 1289.60.

The S&P CNX Nifty Junior moved down by 14.10 points to end at 2203.15 from the previous close of 2217.25. The S&P CNX Defty Index fell by 4.55 points to 1021.75. The S&P CNX 500 and CNX Midcap 200 indices ended 3.35 and 0.55 points higher at 892.20 and 765 respectively.

The total turnover on the NSE was Rs 27.95 billion from trading in 100.5 million shares. The debentures traded were valued at Rs 7.36 million. Today, 362 securities advanced, 707 declined, 79 remained unchanged while 78 hit their price bands.
