FIs buy infotech and FMCG scripts; Sensex recovers 33 points to go past 4500

BSE Sensitive Index

Institutional buying in infotech and fast moving consumer goods scrips led the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange to cross the 4500-mark, registering a gain of 33 points today.

Mirroring the uptrend, the BSE-30 Sensitive Index opened at 4491.73 points, witnessed a high of 4527.64, low of 4470.52 and ended at 4527.30 points, showing a net gain of 33.12 points 03 0.73 per cent over the last closing of 4494.18 points.

Marketmen said that foreign institutional investors were active in counters like Satyam Computers, Pentafour Software, Infosys Technologies and HLL.

Domestic financial institutions reportedly sold Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro.

Satyam Computers rose by Rs 59 to Rs 1,825, Pentafour Software by Rs 26 to Rs 1,288 while Ranbaxy Laboratories fell by Rs 2 to Rs 890.
