Sanctions have no impact on US power projects in India

A major US energy company executing three power projects in southern India says its operations will not suffer as a result of the nuclear-related sanctions imposed by the United States.

CMS Energy Corporation Chairman William T McCormick Jr said the company depended on foreign bank funds and there was no restriction on its operations under the sanctions regime.

The CMS has three projects -- one in Andhra Pradesh and two of them in Tamil Nadu. These are in various stages of completion. Its GMR Vasavi project is expected to be completed early next year.
