The Rediff.com expert felt that an English total of 279/6 was at least 100 runs more than what Canada [ Images ] could chase, even though Flintoff was missing from the English attack. At the start of Canada's innings, its pressure index (PI) was therefore a daunting 173.
The chase never got going. Every time some sort of a partnership started developing, England [ Images ] hit back with a wicket or two.
The PI was 161 when Canada were 51/2 after 10 overs, and dropped modestly to 145 when a decent partnership took Canada to 132/4 after 30 overs.
Canada's best point in the chase was when they were 160/4 after 34 overs. But then Bopara got Mulla for a brave 58 and Panesar cleaned up Samad.
Canada did well to return for the loss of only 7 wickets, but the match was lost before they had even faced their first ball.
