Scotland didn't have a ghost of a chance once they allowed Australia to score a mammoth 334 for 6 in their 50 overs, courtesy of Ricky Ponting's blazing 113 and Brad Hogg's explosive knock of 40 from 15 deliveries.
The expert's verdict was that Scotland could at best get to 175 against an Australian attack featuring a mean Glenn McGrath, and Nathan Bracken who has claimed a bagload of wickets in the last 6-12 months.
The pressure index was above 180 as Majid Haq and Fraser Watts came out to open and after five wickets fell in 15 overs for a paltry 42, it was simply a question of going through the motions.
A brief flourish from Haq (16) and a dour half-century from Colin Smith (51) was all that Scotland could manage as they crashed for 131.
