Scotland didn't have a ghost of a chance once they allowed Australia [ Images ] to score a mammoth 334 for 6 in their 50 overs, courtesy of Ricky Ponting's [ Images ] blazing 113 and Brad Hogg's [ Images ] explosive knock of 40 from 15 deliveries.
The expert's verdict was that Scotland could at best get to 175 against an Australian attack featuring a mean Glenn McGrath [ Images ], and Nathan Bracken [ Images ] who has claimed a bagload of wickets in the last 6-12 months.
The pressure index was above 180 as Majid Haq and Fraser Watts came out to open and after five wickets fell in 15 overs for a paltry 42, it was simply a question of going through the motions.
A brief flourish from Haq (16) and a dour half-century from Colin Smith (51) was all that Scotland could manage as they crashed for 131.
