Raising India's concerns on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, the United States said on Tuesday, June 10, that it is working closely with Pakistani officials, including President Pervez Musharraf, to ensure that actions are taken to prevent infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir.
"The administration continues to work very closely with Pakistani officials, including President Musharraf, about the need to make certain that action is taken to prevent infiltration ... into Kashmir," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said at the end of Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani's visit to Washington.
The issue of infiltration, he said, "continues to be an important part of our foreign policy in the region."
Asked whether the US gave any commitment about not selling arms to Pakistan, Fleischer said: "No. We continue to provide for Pakistan as an ally and we continue to provide them with assistance."
