Bin Laden suspected in US attacks: Official

Saudi terrorist Osama bin Laden is suspected of being involved in terrorist attacks at the World Trade Centre in New York and Pentagon in Washington, a US official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Preliminary indications suggest that individuals associated with bin Laden or his al-Qaeda network may be involved in these attacks," the official said.

Saudi billionaire bin Laden tops the FBI's most-wanted list.

Tuesday's attacks appear to bear the "signature" of bin Laden, a US senator said.

Republican Senator Orrin Hatch told CNN he had high-level information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that bin Laden was behind the attacks.
