Mullah Omar's son killed in US raids: doctor

Taleban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar's 10-year-old son was killed in the United States-led military attack on Afghanistan, an Afghan who treated him said on Sunday.

Dr Abdul Bari told the BBC that Omar's son died from injuries sustained on the first night of bombing raids on the Taleban stronghold of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.

Bari said he treated the boy for several hours as the militia leader 'begged' him to save his son.

But the boy's wounds, abdominal injuries and a broken femur were too serious and he died the same night.

Omar's uncle was also hit in the same raid, but was said to be still alive and receiving treatment in a hospital at Kandahar, the BBC said.
