Reconsider ban on outfits: Pak tells US

Pakistan on Saturday expressed reservations about America and Britain's decision to freeze the accounts of Jaish-e-Mohammed and 38 other outfits suspected to be supporting terrorism, Online news agency reports.

"We would like a reconsideration of it (the freezing of accounts). We are against terrorism in any form but don't want upright organisations to be victims for doing nothing," Foreign Office spokesman Riaz Mohammed Khan said at a news briefing.

"There must be thorough investigations before jumping to conclusions," he said.

Responding to a question, he said, "No US troops have landed in Pakistan. We will provide logistic support to the US but it must be kept in mind that no military action has been carried out from Pakistan soil," he said.

The spokesman said Islamabad considered the upcoming visit of US Secretary of State Collin Powel visit as very significant.

"We want a solution to the Kashmir issue," he said.

On the US-led action against Afghanistan, the spokesman said, "We remain hopeful that the strikes against Taleban would be targeted."
