Josy Joseph in New Delhi

Neither Indian air space nor Indian air bases have been used by the United States armed forces for the attack on Afghanistan, it was revealed after an emergency meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday evening.

The meeting was attended by the Army Chief General V Padmanabhan, Director General of Military Operations and top navy and air force officials.

Meanwhile, defence sources said two US aircraft carriers, USS Enterprise and USS Carl Vincent are believed to be stationed 180 km south west of Karachi.
