PIO card fee to be reduced: Advani

E-Mail this report to a friend

India will suitably reduce the cost of the People of Indian Origin card from the present 1,000 dollars, Home Minister L K Advani said.

"I agree that it [the PIO card] needs to be revised. The process is on. It will be revised soon," Advani told journalists on Thursday evening, referring to the complaints made to him about the high cost of the card during his visit to London.

He admitted that at the current cost a family of three would have to shell out 3,000 dollars for the card.

Referring to the demand of dual citizenship, he said, "We have not been able to introduce dual citizenship as there was no unanimity... on the issue."
