Former ISKCON swami held

The police have arrested a former member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness for using a fake passport to travel to the US.

Swami Krishnadasji Maharaj (32), along with two others, allegedly had a fake passport prepared at the regional passport office, taking advantage of his association with ISKCON, the police said.

He also allegedly used ISKCON letterhead to help the other two get passports and was planning to leave for the US to deliver sermons when police caught him on Monday.

Swami Krishnadasji alias Pramod Rakhal Sarkar belongs to a family of farmers in Andhra Pradesh and joined ISKCON at Nagpur. He worked at various ISKCON centres in the country for two years, the police said.
