Indo-US partnership crucial: Clinton

E-Mail this report to a friend

US President Bill Clinton has expressed confidence that Indo-American partnership will become even more important in the years ahead because the relationship drew its strength from shared values, a reverence for freedom and belief in democracy.

In a message to the Indian American Friendship Council released by India's representative and convenor, Adish C Aggarwala, the American president lauded the role played by Indians settled in US, whose skills, energy, culture and values, he said, had enriched the nation's life and heritage.

In the message to mark the 53rd annual meeting of the council on July 18 in Washington, Clinton said, "You can be proud of your role in building a future that is more peaceful, free and prosperous for us all."

He appreciated the role the council played to promote greater understanding and co-operation between the two countries and for raising awareness of the contribution of millions of Americans of Indian ancestry.
