The presence of Brazilian coaches sparked interest in earlier campaigns. This time round, the team is coached by Nasser Al-Johar, a local, and, understandably, expectations are grounded in reality.

The nucleus of the side is pooled from the champion club of Al Hilal. Yet, the understanding forged between players may not ward off the onslaught of Germany, Ireland and Cameroon.

When the Saudis step on to the field, they will be playing for pride against their formidable adversaries.
