 About the Game

Shooting is divided into Rifle shooting and Clay shooting.

Shooting distance & style:
50m : Standing, Kneeling, Prone
25m : Standing (only)
10m : Standing (only)
Electronic targets, first introduced at the Hiroshima Games, enable automatic calculation of scores and display of points and rank on monitor television screens.

Clay shooting

Clay shooting is a sport played using a shotgun. Competitors are required to shoot a clay pigeon, moving at a speed of 22 - 30 m/sec., within 0.5 - 0.8 seconds after its launch. This is a highly thrilling sport, requiring instant decision and fast reflexes.
With their shotguns, competitors shoot at clay pigeons launched into the air. Winners are decided by the number of clay pigeons downed. Competition is divided into 3 events: Trap, Double trap, and Skeet. Events:

Trap shooting:

Clay pigeons are launched by 3 computer-operated machines to establish fair competition. One flies to the right, one to the middle, and the other to the left. A competitor may not shoot at a clay pigeon more than twice.

Skeet shooting

Clay pigeons are launched from 2 places: in some competitions only one pigeons is launched for each shooter while in other two are launched per shooter by machines located to the right and left. Competitors can use only one shot for each clay pigeon. A feature of this sport is that shooters are not permitted to wait in prepared posture with the gun against the cheek. They must wait with the gun butt at their hipbone untill the clay pigeon is launched.
