Venue: Busan Equestrian Grounds

 About the Game

The equestrian competition consists of three events: the dressage, jumping and combined. Of these, the dressage and jumping have been adopted for the Games.
Dressage:
The basic element of all horseback sports, close harmony between rider and horse is vitally important. Performance takes place within a fenced 60m by 20m rectangular ground. A horse must go through several dozen compulsory exercises which start and end with a salute.
Five referees give marks to the performance through the evaluation of each exercise and a comprehensive observation of four items: step, propulsive spirit, obedience and rider's position, sitting and support. Riders compete for total score.
Jumping:
The event is conducted within an app. 60m by 80m fenced ground, in a contest of technique in jumping hurdles with minimum error in the quickest possible time. 12 to 15 hurdles are arranged for this event.
