JCT survived a scare before romping home 2-1 against defending champions Dempo in an ONGC I-League match at the Guru Nanak Stadium, in Ludhiana on Friday evening.
The hosts drew first blood in the first minute of the encounter when midfielder Baljit Sahni found the target.
They increased the lead 17 minutes later as Brazilian recruit Eduardo Escobar essayed a pass to Sahni, who tapped it into the net.
After the breather, Dempo increased the tempo and put the hosts on the backfoot.
The Goan team's sustained pressure paid off in the 86th minute when Anthony Pereira found the net.
With this win, JCT moved to 15 points from 12 matches while Dempo stayed on 17.
JCT next take on Vasco on January 31.
