Lleyton Hewitt has been recalled to lead Australia's Davis Cup team in their Asia/Oceania first round tie in Thailand next month.

Hewitt missed Australia's last Davis Cup tie against Chile in 2008 after undergoing hip surgery but returns to lead a new-look squad including Chris Guccione, Carsten Ball and teen-ager Brydan Klein.

"We've picked a good team that I think is capable of winning in Thailand," Australia captain John Fitzgerald said in a statement Wednesday.

Klein, 19, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Australian tennis and got the nod ahead of 15-year-old Bernard Tomic, who made the second round at last month's Australian Open.

"Brydan deserves congratulations on his continued improvement," Fitzgerald said.

"He is progressing well in his transition from juniors and is the form player of the domestic season having won the last two tournaments. He has well and truly earned his spot"

Tennis Australia also announced that Darren Cahill was standing down as coach, citing business and personal reasons, and would be replaced by Wally Masur.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role," Cahill said.

"I wish Fitzy and all the boys the very best of luck in Thailand and hope that it will be a successful first step towards Australia getting back in the World Group by the end of the year."
