Reigning national champion and top seed Joshna Chinappa asserted her supremacy by clinching the women's title with a facile victory over local girl Surabhi Mishra in the Jaipur Club Harish Chandra Golecha squash tournament in Jaipur on Wednesday.
It was a double delight for India as second seed Harendra Pal Singh overcame an injured Mohammad Asyraf Azan of Malaysia, also the top seed, in straight sets to win the men's title 11-4,11-9,12-10.
In the women's final, world number 37 and eight-time national champion Joshna Chinappa pocketed the title with an 11-6 11-9 11-4 victory.
Surabhi lost the first game tamely but fought hard in the second. She led 9-4 at one point but unforced errors did her in and Joshna with all her experience did not let go the chance.
Surabhi later consoled herself by winning the under-19 girls crown, beating Saumya Karki 6-11,7-11,11-8,11-4,11-8 in a see-saw final.
Saumya had earlier won the girls under-15 final beating Shreya Khatri 11-5 11-6 11-2.
The boys under-17 final saw Ravi Dixit rallying to beat Mahesh Mangaonkar 8-11 11-3 11-5 11-5. The top seed in boys under-13 section Kush Kumar beat Raghav Mehrotra 11-6 11-9 11-2 to clinch the title.
In the boy's under-19 final, Vikram Malhotra tamed Ravi Dixit 11-9, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9 to win the title.
