The third seeded Indo-Czech pair, after a first round bye, lost to Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Andre Spa 3-6, 2-6 in a little over an hour.
Paes and Dlouhy squandered two break-points each in both sets while their opponents broke them thrice.
The fourth seeded pair of Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles lost their second round match 4-6, 2-6 to Juan Monaco of Brazil and Rafael Nadal of Spain.
