Ace shuttler Chetan Anand and the mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju eased into the second round of the Denmark Open, even as compatriots Arvind Bhatt and Aditi Mutatkar crashed out of the Super Series event in Odense on Wednesday.
In the men's singles category, National champion Anand beat Stefan Wojcikiewicz of Canada 21-6, 21-15 in just 25 minutes, while Gutta and Diju prevailed over the Indonesian pair of Endang Nursugianti and Anggun Nugroho 21-15, 21-12 in the mixed doubles.
However, Bhatt squandered a first game lead and went down to Muhammad Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia 21-18, 15-21, 19-21 in 48 minutes.
Anand Pawar followed suit and was shown the door by Malaysia's Choong Hann Wong, losing 17-21, 21-12, 21-18 in the opening round.
In the women's singles, Aditi hit a low after a high in the Dutch Open Grand Prix, as Canadia's Anna Rice got the better off her at 21-18, 21-15.
Gutta and Shruti Kurian will pair up against local challengers Christinna Pedersen and Mie Schjoett-Kristensen in the women's doubles category.
