Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles put up a spirited fight but lost their second round-robin match in the US $4,45,000 Tennis Masters Cup, to top seeded American twins Mike and Bob Bryan in Shanghai on Tuesday.
The third seeded Indo-Bahamian pair went down 5-7, 6-3, 4-10 in a Red Group match.
The fiercely contested first set saw the Bryans taking the lead after converting a crucial break-point even as Bhupathi and Knowles failed to convert one that came their way.
The Indo-Czech pair drew parity after breaking their opponents twice and saving as many break-points on serve in the second set.
However, the Bryan brothers won the super tie-break to register their second successive win.
The top two teams in the Red and Gold groups will make the semi-final stage of the high-profile season ending event.
