Yuki Bhambri got off to a good start at the $ 10,000 ITF men's tournament in Gurgaon as he prevailed over Indonesian Elbert Sie 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the first round of the singles event.
The 15-year-old Yuki, however, has a tough job at hand as he now faces top seed Mohammad Ghareeb of Kuwait, who drew curtains on the campaign of Vivek Shokeen 7-5, 6-2 in his opening match.
Also advancing was former Davis Cupper Harsh Mankad, who stunned third seed Bogdan-Victor Leonte of Romania 6-3, 6-3.
However, it was end of the road for Divij Sharan, Navdeep Singh and Purav Raja.
Sharan lost 5-7, 3-6 to fifth seed Pakistani Aqeel Khan while Navdeep lost 2-6, 4-6 to compatriot Vijay Kannan.
Raja put up stiff resistance against fourth seed Korean Hyun-Woo Nam but ultimately lost the match 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-7(3).
Another Indian in the fray, Ranjeet Virali Murugesan went down 6-3, 3-6, 0-6 to Vaja Uzakov of Uzbekistan.
