Sunitha Rao rallied to beat seventh seed Sandy Gumulya of Indonesia 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the USD 25,000 ITF Women's tennis tournament in New Delhi on Thursday.
The US-based Sunitha, who is the lone Indian left in the fray, will take on third seed Margit Ruutel of Estonia in the last-four stage.
Margit beat Thai Varatchaya Wongteanchai in her quarterfinal clash.
In the doubles' competition, the third seeded South African pair of Kelly Anderson and Chanelle Scheepers will take on the fourth seeded Serbian-Slovakian team of Teodora Mircic and Lenka Ivaroskova in the finals.
While Anderson and Scheepers beat Thai qualifiers Romana Tedjakusuma and Yayuk Basuki 6-4, 5-7, 10-6, Mircic and Tvaroskova thrashed Kyrgyz-Russian duo of Ksenia Palkina and Anastasia Poltoratskaya in the semifinals today.
