Swiss champion Patty Schnyder [ Images ] has confirmed her participation in the Bangalore Open this year.

Patty Schnyder has 10 tour wins to her credit and is currently ranked 14th in the WTA Rankings, the Karnataka [ Images ] State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) said announcing her participation.

Schnyder said, "It is great to be part of India's [ Images ] first Tier II tennis extravaganza at Bangalore. This is my first visit to India and I am as much thrilled as anyone would be to visit this great nation. I look forward to play great tennis at Bangalore in front passionate lovers of the sport."

Serena Williams [ Images ] has already confirmed her participation in the event.

The Bangalore Open will be held here from March 3 to 9. The event has total prize money of $ 600,000 and winner will take home $ 95,500 and 300 WTA points.
