Anup Sridhar, Chetan Anand and Arvind Bhatt of Petroleum Board along with Air India's Anand Pawar entered the men's semi-finals in the 72nd Senior National Badminton Championships, at the Campal indoor stadium in Panaji, Goa, on Friday.
Saina Nehwal, Aparna Balan, Aditi Mutatkar and Trupti Murgunde, all Petroleum Board, made it to the women's semi-finals.
Saturday's first men's semi-final will be all-Petroleum Board affair, with top seed Sridhar clashing with third seed Anand.
In the second semi-final, fourth seed Bhatt takes on fifth seed Pawar.
The women's semi-finals, also on Saturday, are all-PSPB affairs, where top seed Nehwal meets fifth seed Balan, and third seed Mutatkar clashes with second seed Trupti.
In the men's quarter-finals, top seed Sridhar overcame R M V Guru Sai Dutt of Andhra Pradesh 22-20 21-16; Chetan Anand beat Sachin Ratti of Railways 21-17, 21-15; Aravind Bhatt got the better of Sagar
Chopra of Maharshtra 21-14 21-13 and Arvind Pawar rallied to beat P Kashyap 20-22, 21-18, 21-19.
In the women's quarter-finals, top seed Saina Nehwal beat seventh Jwala Gutta of Petroleum Board 21-10, 21-11; fifth seed Aparna Balan beat fourth seed Dhanya Nair of Railways 13-21, 21-14, 21-11; third seed Aditi Mutatkar beat B P Meenakshi 21-19, 18-21, 21-18 and second seed Trupti Murgunde proved too good for Gayatri Vartak of Maharashtra 21-16, 21-8.
