Mahesh Bhupathi and his partner Mark Knowles of Bahamas squandered a one set lead to crash out of the USD 436,000 ATP SAP Open in San Jose.
Second seeds Bhupathi and Knowles went down 6-2, 6-7 (5), 8-10 to the unseeded American duo of Scott Lipsky and David Martin in the quarter-finals of the hardcourt event on Friday night.
The winners next take on the Thai duo of Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana in the semi-finals.
The other Indian in the fray, Rohan Bopanna had made a first round exit after he and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi lost to third seeds Max Mirnyi and Jamie Murray.
