Having failed to book a ticket for Beijing, Indian eves recorded their biggest win of the Olympic qualification tournament in Kazan, Russia with a 7-0 mauling of lowly France in their last round robin league match on Saturday.
India toyed with their opponents throughout the match with action mostly confined in the France half-line and Mamta Kharab's team, which led 3-0 at the breather, got half a dozen penalty corners of which they converted two.
Young Rani Devi gave India a dream start with a gem of a field goal in the fourth minute and the 14-year-old later sounded the board twice in the 54th and 70th minutes.
Surinder Kaur contributed two goals (6th, 45th) while defender Rajwinder Kaur (17th) and Jasjeet Kaur Handa (66th) scored a goal each.
A large number of Indian students turned up to cheer their countrymates, singing 'Chak De! India'.
After Saturday's win, India are fourth in the six-team tournament with six points from two victories and will take on third-placed Netherlands Antilles on Sunday in the bronze medal play-off.
India had lost to Netherlands Antilles 2-1 in their league match.
