Indian eves suffered a severe jolt in their Olympic hockey qualifying campaign when they lost 1-2 to Netherlands AntillesĀ in Kazan on Sunday.
India, currently ranked 13th, dominated the match but their forwards failed to capitalise. M K Kaushik's wards also failed to convert any of their four penalty corners.
India, who beat Russia 3-1 in their first match, were the more attacking side in the first half but trailed 0-1 at the breather to their opponents ranked 20th, conceding a goal from Claire Visser in the 31st minute.
After the change of ends, India restored parity through young Rani Devi in the 42nd minute before Antilles' Maria Hinskens scored the winner in the 54th.
It was Netherlands Antilles' second successive win after they beat France 2-0 in their first match.
Ernestina Schreuder was shown the yellow card in the 56th minute but India could not capitalise on their numerical advantage.
India play Belgium in their next match on Tuesday.
