Romania striker Adrian Mutu struck twice for Fiorentina in a 2-0 away win at PSV Eindhoven on Thursday which sent the Italian side into the UEFA [ Images ] Cup semi-finals.
Fiorentina progressed 3-1 on aggregate with Mutu, who scored in the first leg, putting the Serie A side ahead by firing in a freekick from 25 metres seven minutes before half-time.
Mutu settled the match early in the second half when he netted a rebound after goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes [ Images ] failed to control a shot from Giampaolo Pazzini.
PSV, without injured playmaker Ibrahim Afellay [ Images ], squandered chances to get back into the tie.
Danko Lazovic and Danny Koevermans missed from close range and Sebastien Frey saved a Timmy Simons penalty nine minutes from time.
