Romania striker Adrian Mutu struck twice for Fiorentina in a 2-0 away win at PSV Eindhoven on Thursday which sent the Italian side into the UEFA Cup semi-finals.
Fiorentina progressed 3-1 on aggregate with Mutu, who scored in the first leg, putting the Serie A side ahead by firing in a freekick from 25 metres seven minutes before half-time.
Mutu settled the match early in the second half when he netted a rebound after goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes failed to control a shot from Giampaolo Pazzini.
PSV, without injured playmaker Ibrahim Afellay, squandered chances to get back into the tie.
Danko Lazovic and Danny Koevermans missed from close range and Sebastien Frey saved a Timmy Simons penalty nine minutes from time.
