India's Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi scored hard-fought wins in their respective doubles matches on Monday to set up a quarter-final clash at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
Fourth seeds Bhupathi and Mark Knowles defeated Russian-Belgian duo of Igor Andreev and Xavier Malisse 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 before Paes and Paul Hanley, seeded eighth, also prevailed in a match tie-break.
They defeated Christopher Kas and Rogier Wassen 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
Bhupathi and Knowles, who played together in a handful of tournaments in 2000 before joining forces for the 2008 season, have now won 12 of their last 13 matches. They won 10 straight with titles in Memphis and Dubai before their streak was snapped by Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram last week in the Indian Wells quarterfinals.
Paes-Hanley are also a new pairing for 2008, and reached their first ATP quarterfinal of the season last week in Indian Wells.
