Tara Iyer was outplayed in straight sets by top seed Russian Iroda Tulyaganova as the Indian went down 2-6, 2-6 in the final of the Asian Tennis Championships in Tashkent on Saturday.

Despite upstaging some higher seeded rivals in the run-up to the final, Tara proved no match for Iroda, who swept aside the Indian's challenge without much trouble.

There was further disappointment for India [ Images ] as Ashutosh Singh and Vivek Shokeen lost in the men's doubles final.

Seeded second in the event, Ashutosh and Vivek crashed to a 2-6, 6-7 (4) defeat against top seeds Murad Inoyatov and Alexey Kedriouk.
