Narain Karthikeyan ran an impressive race as A1 Team India recorded its best performance of the season so far finishing sixth at Sepang and gaining five more points in the Feature Race in Malaysia on Sunday.

After qualifying in 11th place, Karthikeyan raced past several cars-- including Team New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and Germany.

Karthikeyan consistently picked up places as he moved up the grid and drove with power and confidence.

Team Switzerland's Neel Jani had a fabulous weekend taking home victories in both the Sprint and Feature races.

In the latter, he led the grid with more than an eight-second lead over Brazil and France who came second and third respectively.

Through some skill and luck, Karthikeyan avoided several cars that spun off in front of his car, which proved to dampen the chances of several other cars.

"I am happy with our performance today. We raced hard and things went well for the team. However, a better qualifying position could have taken us further up the grid. I look forward to bringing home more points from our next race at Zhuhai," Karthikeyan said.

The Indian ace recorded his fastest lap time of 1:50.161 seconds in his 34th lap. The team also pulled off two very efficient pit stops bolstering Karthikeyan's chances.

In the Sprint race, Team India improved one place to finish 13th.
