Leander Paes and Martin Damm lost their final round-robin match in straight sets in Group Gold at the Tennis Masters Cup.
Paes-Damm suffered their first defeat when they went down 3-6, 4-6 to Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett on Thursday.
The result, however, was inconsequential as the Indo-Czech duo had already qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament in Shanghai.
The sixth seeds had beaten defending champions Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi in their opening encounter and booked their semi-final berth after a 6-4, 7-5 victory over the Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram.
Bjorkman and Mirnyi, playing their final match together after three successful years, bowed out of the event after losing to Hanley-Ullyett on Tuesday.
In 2008, Sweden's Bjorkman will team with Ullyett.
